Pigmentation Spots
Localised discolouration due to an accumulation of melanin
Pigmentation spots are discolourations of the skin caused by increased production or accumulation of melanin. They commonly appear on the face, hands, and décolletage and can have many different causes. The most common causes of pigmentation are sun exposure, skin ageing, hormonal changes (melasma), or skin inflammation (post-inflammatory).
Depending on the type of pigmentation spot, various treatments are available, such as injectables, medical peels, or pigment-inhibiting skincare. A thorough skin analysis determines which treatment is most suitable. Daily sun protection helps prevent new pigmentation spots from forming and preserves the results of treatment.
